When work mentioned that I should look into how difficult it would be to incorporate a drone into a concept vehicle build, I got really excited! I never played with drones up until this point, but I really enjoyed remote control cars as a kid. I started researching as much as I could about drones and not many were available at the time. I ended up looking more into DJI as it was a bit more established more than most companies at the time. I kept hearing about how they were leading the industry in components and kits for drones. I ordered some parts online after getting some advice from a coworker and decided to build one myself.
After learning more about building drones, I developed a strong respect and interest for electricity and batteries. I was amazed by the amount of power that could be stored in such a small battery pack.
While building the drone, I also became very fascinated in radio technology as it blew my mind how far I could fly my drone while still maintaining control. I ended up adding some LED lights to the drone as well primarily so that I could see it and it’s bearings well at night from a distance. Keeping separate colored lights on the front and back made steering it from a distance much easier!
The drone also includes a mini CCD camera to stream live video footage from the drone to a headset.
