CoinCirca is a free online resource designed to help everyday people quickly check their pocket change to see if it may be worth more than face value. The goal is not only to help identify potentially valuable coins, but also to make coin collecting feel more approachable and understandable for beginners.
Many people have heard stories about rare pennies or valuable quarters selling for large amounts of money, but most do not know where to begin or how to identify important details like mint marks, silver content, key dates, or error varieties. I wanted to create something simple, modern, and easy to use on both desktop and mobile devices so anyone could quickly look up a coin whether they are at home or out and about.
One of the most exciting aspects of numismatics is that treasure hunting element. Even today, there are still collectible U.S. coins quietly circulating through cash registers, coin jars, and old collections waiting to be discovered. While most coins are only worth face value, there are still surprising finds out there for observant people willing to take a closer look.
My hope is that CoinCirca can help introduce more people to coin collecting, encourage curiosity about history, and make it easier for both beginners and collectors to learn more about the coins they encounter every day.
